Welcome to the first ever Frugal Fridays Fabulous Frugal Foods Roundup!
Each and every month, we’ll post a roundup of the five best frugal recipes or ideas entered in the Frugal Fridays blog event. This being the very first roundup, I’m listing every single recipe submitted in the month of June. Thanks to everyone who contributed!
In the future this roundup will highlight the ten best entries, as voted on by Frugal Fridays blogroll members, so if you’d like to get in on the voting when it comes available, join the blogroll as soon as possible!
And without further ado, Here’s the June 2008 Edition of the Frugal Fridays Monthly Fabulous Frugal Foods Roundup, in the order recieved for the month.
(note: I’ve skipped FF#1 because the post regarding it has mysteriously vanished… But since I was the only entrant, we’ll just call that a bust!)
Becke, the Columbus Foodie, graced us with a wonderful recipe for Southwest Mac and Cheese. Once again proving that having a little blue box of macaroni in your cupboard is never a bad thing under any circumstances. Her creation still has me wishing that I had some handy. Unfortunately, I finished off my last box about two months ago, and simply haven’t remembered to restock!
Cooking by the seat of my Pants! (That would be me, by the way) chimed in for the second edition of Frugal Fridays with a southern comfort feast of Pork Chops, Collard Greens and his mother’s own Cornbread Dressing. All of this for under $10.00! Yeah, babe, you just can’t beat that with a stick! (Not that I would want to…)
My good friend Ben at What’s Cooking inspired all of us with a creation that warmed the heart of this wine country native for Frugal Fridays #3 with his take on a recipe from the California Table Grape Commission, humbly titled Chicken and Grapes. I really think that this is one worthy of a serious “WOW”. It doesn’t surprise me that Ben is quickly becoming one of the best known food bloggers out there.
I chimed in again (albeit a day late) with my recipe for Basil and Oregano Roast Chicken with Southwestern Rice, a recipe that stemmed from thinking about Southwestern Flavor combinations after checking out the mac-n-Cheese recipe at Columbus Foodie. I just couldn’t help doing a little bit of cooking with some cumin and cilantro after that! (I know, hopeless!)
And the last entry in this month’s roundup comes from Stephanie of Fun Foods - On A Budget!, who submitted her recipes for several different fruit infused creations, which she aptly titled “Fruit Infused!“ Each and every part of this trio sounds and looks gorgeous. I seriously recommend stopping by and giving her blog a look, especially if you’re looking for more money saving meal ideas.
And there you have it. The very first Fabulous frugal Foods Roundup! Please keep those ideas coming in. Remember, posting opens each Thursday before midnight, so please join in. while you’re at it, go thank these wonderful people for joining in and helping to get this event off the ground!
