The City of Palm Bay located in the county of Brevard in the state of Florida recently passed the 100,000 mark in population back in the middle part of 2008. For a town that spent most of the last 80 some years as a sleepy little enclave in Florida, it is hard to believe it is now the the largest city population wise in Brevard County. Palm Bay Florida received its current name in the late 1920’s after the palm trees that surrounded the mouth of Turkey Creek as it meets the Indian River.
Beginning in the 1920’s till 1959, Palm Bay remained small and unnoticed, however, in 1959 a large developer purchased large tracts of land near the river and started to build the development of Port Malabar. Right after that began the current push that made Palm Bay what it is right now. Now, amongst the many neighborhoods you can choose to build a home in, you can also get one of several Palm Bay apartments in various locations throughout the city. With a growing population Palm Bay is no longer the small country town it use to be.
