Teaching a child to play the game of badminton can be a rewarding experience for both the teacher and the child. First, make sure that the badminton set you are using contains the proper equipment. Covering the basics of the game in the beginning is probably the best way to teach a child. You might first teach him how to properly hold and grasp the badminton racket and serve the shuttlecock, or “birdie.” This may require some patience, as a child is still developing proper eye hand coordination and may be a bit awkward at first. After mastering the concept of holding the racket and serving, you may begin implementing other aspects of the game, such as how to hit the shuttlecock. Standing near the child and serving the shuttlecock to him may be required at first. As he gets more skilled at this, you may implement a greater distance and even bring the net into the game. With time and practice, the child will pick up on the rules and skills of the game.
